A weather radio is a necessity when you live in areas where the weather can turn on you quick. As I was writing another post I needed to search for a radio that would work for weather alerts as well as function without power or batteries. I found the Scorpion II and really liked the features that was included at an affordable price and thought I would share it with you.
Benefits of a Weather Radio
As mentioned earlier, a weather radio is great when you live in an area that has extreme weather that can occur at any time. This would be in areas that sees hurricanes, tornadoes, flash floods and even wild fires.
Even if you do not live in one of these areas directly, you will still benefit from having a radio that you can use during power outages, especially this one because you never know what can happen.
This radio can also be used when you are working in the garage, yard, or hanging out with friends and want some music playing. The best thing is you will not have to have a plug close by because this is a rechargeable unit with multiple ways to charge it.
Power For the Radio
This little radio can be recharged in three different ways. In the past most emergency weather radios could only be used by winding the crank on it. This little radio has a crank, but can also be charged through the power cord that comes with it, or with solar power with the solar cell designed in the radio.
What I really like about this radio is the multiple ways you can use it. If you do not have power you can use the crank, especially in severe weather, or you can get it in the sun and use the solar cell to charge the radio.
I know that you might think that solar is not very useful during a weather emergency, but this is a great feature to use when outside just enjoying music. It is small enough to be carried anywhere, and I like to use mine on the boat while fishing. Yes I got one right after I found it because of all the great features even though I already had a weather radio.
Additional Features
One feature of the radio that I really like is the fact that you can charge you phone or tablet with the USB port. Yes if the radio is charged it will charge your phone. It does not matter if you charge it with the power cord, but winding the crank or using the solar cell. You will be able to charge you phone or kid’s tablet when you may not have power.
This is good as well if you have to evacuate and go stay in a shelter for a time. Plugs can be in short supply and people all trying to use a scarce resource, but you will not have to worry if you have this small radio. You will want to keep the radio’s charging capabilities quiet because you might have people wanting to use it, or even think about taking it from you. Remember you do not want others to know what you might have that they don’t and could take from you.
This radio also has a flashlight that uses the same battery power, so you will always have a light source if you have this radio. When the power is out during bad weather, knowing what may be heading your way, and having a light to see what you are doing will be very helpful to you and your family.
Don’t Delay, Get Yours Today
Go and check this radio out, and see what great benefits you get with it. One thing that I did forget to mention is this has a clip on it so you can attach it to your go bag that you grab when you got to get out in a hurry. With the price of this radio being affordable with what it offers, you might want to get two just to have a backup, or keep one at the office
Conclusion
We never know when a disaster or emergency will happen, and being prepared is what we want to do. Having a radio that you can rely on to get information during these times can be easier with a radio that works even when the power is out. You will not have to worry about being informed with this radio, and you can charge phones and tablets with this one, as well as have a flashlight built right in. Get yours today!
